Kings is a popular and diverse drinking game being played all over the world. Sometimes it’s called a different name such as circle of death, king’s cup, sociables, donut, oval of fire, or ring of fire, but the game play doesn’t change much. The objective of the game is to make your friends drink, and have fun doing so. Before the deck of cards is shuffled, a rule is determined for each card.
We have created several games of Kings for you to choose from.
Things You’ll Need
- Friends – best played with 4-10 people
- Drinks – and lots of them…most people choose alcoholic beverages, but you don’t have to
- Cards – you’re going to need a deck of cards to play this game
- Positive Attitude – there’s a chance you’ll look like an idiot, answer some very personal questions, remove some clothing or chug a disgusting concoction based on the rules you decide to play with…but just remember, there’s always time for revenge – you won’t be the only one.
Standard Game Play
- Place an entire deck of cards (no jokers) face-down in the middle of the table.
- Players take turns going around the table and drawing a card. That player must follow the rule associated with the card until the deck is empty.
- The deck is shuffled and a new game is ready to be played – any rules from the previous game are wiped out.
Variation: Circle of Death/King’s Cup
- Place a cup upright in the center of the table and spread an entire deck of cards (no jokers) face-down around it.
- Players take turns going around the table and drawing a card. That player must follow the rule associated with the card until the last King is drawn.
- When the 4th King is drawn, the game ends and that player DRINKS the center cup! The deck is shuffled and a new game is ready to be played – any rules from the previous game are wiped out.
